THE FUTURE of LOCAL GOVERNMENT in NORTH YORKSHIRE
The Government announced on 21st July 2021 that Councils in North Yorkshire will be re-organised to form a single Unitary Authority, covering a population of 618,000.
York remains as a separate Unitary Authority with a population of 211,000.
Elections for UA Councillors were held in May 2022 and the new North Yorkshire Council is planned to come into being in April 2023.
