Streetlights

Current Issues

The Council's contractors maintain the repair service at the locations below. If a light is off for an extended time please pass the location to the Council Manager to check if it has already been reported.

Lights out on the A19 and roundabouts should be reported to North Yorkshire County Council.

Column Replacements

The current phase of the Parish wide programme of replacing and upgrading old columns and sodium lights is now complete. The new LED's give a brighter, cleaner light and require less maintenance.

Any remaining fluorescent lights do not require immediate replacement but will be included in a future phase.

Please report any problems to the Council Manager.

NYCC Strret Light Energy Reduction Programme (SLERP)

This scheme involves turning off some street lights between Midnight and 5.00 a.m. Columns at road junctions, where there is traffic calming or an overriding need will be unaffected. If a light near you is off and you are not sure whether it is damaged or part of this scheme please contact NYCC for clarification.

Please note that street lights in the ownership of Barlby and Osgodby Town Council are unaffected by the switch off.

NYCC are also replacing (over the next 2 - 3 years) all of its standard street lighting with LED technology which will be more energy efficient and will reduce current maintenance costs.

Other Lights

The last column on Recreation Road (by the underpass) all of the other lights between this light and up to (but not including the rear of Ousebank) are the responsibility of the successors of BOCM Pauls.
